You Are What You Eat! Self Care in the Form of Nutrition.

As much as I speak about and stress the importance of self-care, especially #mommacare, aside from doing DIY's, going to the spa, and taking personal time for yourself, one good way of practicing this is having healthy eating habits. Eating well is a form of self-care and there is a reason why they say "you are what you eat". Sometimes when the day gets going, and becomes hectic with kids, work, home, etc... we as individuals and especially moms, forget the number one thing to keep all of it going..... fuel, aka food! But not just any ole type of food, proper, nutritious meals that will keep you going and won't do damage. I know I am guilty of doing the typical mommy routine of putting myself last when it comes to eating. Everyone else in my family gets fed first and I end up going the entire day without so much as a cracker and wonder why I feel run down? Good thing I have made some changes in my "routine". Lately, I am putting "food" on the menu and making sure I eat before I start the day. I had the pleasure last week of having an amazingly nutritious meal for lunchtime prepared by Omena El of LoveBlissWellness, http://loveblisswellnessllc. com/about/ a holistic chef, caterer, and nutritionist that also owns a postpartum food delivery business. Her brand offers meal plans with quick, tasty and healthy dishes to get the proper fuel tailor-made to individual needs. We had quinoa, black beans, in a tomato wrap with a side of plantain chips and avocado.
Talk about delicious and nutritious! Here is a quick little lunch recipe of mine to keep you going:
Put all ingredients in wrap, fold up the corner edges, and voila! an instant sandwich packed full of protein that metabolizes as fuel. Delicious, savory, and the right type of calories that keep you going... enjoy!
